Posted: Wednesday, July 23, 2014 12:00 pm San Simon FFA at state leadership event Jake Webster San Simon FFA Assistant Reporter Arizona Range News | 0comments SAN SIMON — The San Simon FFA Chapter attended the State Leadership Conference held on the University of Arizona campus in Tucson onJune 5-7. San Simon recorded one of the top-three attendance ratings of any school in the State with 21 students attending. Students attending the state event included Shannon Choate, Alyssa Osuna, Britanie Keil, Hunter Bidegain,Camryn Graham, Hannah Adame, Rebecca Jarvis, Caylin Tibbetts, Jake Webster, Juan Ortiz, Jose Ortiz, Tyler Driscoll, Zenon Guillen, Tanner Grainger, Riley Klump, Ryan Klump, James Fickett, Michael Patnesky, Ryan Adame, Justin Ngyuen and Matthew Zwickey. Students competed in the BBQ contest, extemporaneous public speaking, dodge ball, talent show, the jacket essay contest, star greenhand, star farmer and the state degree ceremony. James Fickett also ran for a State FFA Office. Riley Klump was selected as the star State Farmer of Arizona with his Cattle Ranching SAE located in Cochise and Graham County. He and James Fickett were also awarded their State FFA Degree. Zane Webster was recognized for his American Degree that he will receive in October at the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Ky. Ryan Klump was one of three star finalists in Arizona for the Star State Greenhand Award.
